Disney now running scared

You dont screw with Star Wars fans, after all , its the fans that made it as successful as the franchise has become.

Me thinks Disney are now worried for the future of the franchise and the worrying numbers for Solo.

Kennedy will be gone soon, hopefully Rian Johnson too, wouldnt it be fantastic if Lucas came in to replace Kennedy and be creative advisor to the writers and directors, i wouldnt expect him to get heavily involved but at least be an influence on the creative side.

Why would that be fantastic? Do the prequels suddenly not exist anymore? People act like Lucas never became a sell out more interested in selling toys and making movies on a computer than real filmmaking and good writing.

I'm also curious to see how they're running scared. Theres been no changes at all since Solo came out. Abrams is still doing 9, Johnson is doing his trilogy, the Game of Thrones guys are doing theirs...you need evidence of them running scared to say they're running scared.

Nothing will change with Abrams doing 9 unless he chooses to quit. Its the long term projects that will be in question. I think Part 9 will have an effect on those. Part 8 sagged during its theatrical run and showed signs beyond just internet hate that there may be a problem. 1.3 bil hides the issue, but its there. Solo's flop, something I didn't think was possible is alarming on many levels. I thought the worse Solo would do and be disappointing was earn less than R1. The fact the question is not if it will lose money but how much will it lose is certainly an issue for Disney. Disney is still riding high on the overall success for the films but it seems unlikely the company isn't considering long term issues.
