Star Wars: 40 Years of Popularity and Profit, and then downhill from there...

Notice how it's been over 40 years that Star Wars has been universally popular, with TFA (rehash) and Rogue One (ANH plothole filler) produced in the last few years... before TLJ nosedived the franchise. It's gonna be hard coming back from that and Solo, that's for sure! At least it's had a good run for perhaps THE iconic movie franchise.

Part of me wishes they just stopped it in 1983.

Then we would have never gotten the amazing Prequels and would be stuck with an extremely outdated trilogy that is not worthy of the Star Wars name.

Yep agreed i expect 800 million type numbers for the likes of Episode 9, Boba Fett if well recieved could make around that also , me thinks the fact that James Mangold is writing and directing could ehhance its popularity.

Rian Johnson on the other hand, i hope his new trilogy makes the same numbers as Solo , if not worse.

Episode 9 is going to make more than a billion. That's almost a guarantee. Even with all the bitching TLJ is still the 9th highest grossest movie ever. And people who claim they won't see it still will.

Im calling it now , TLJ would of made alot more if it wasnt such a cluster fuck movie, alot more , i reckon 1.8 billion.

For it to make more than a billion it would have to be recevied well from the off from the day 1 opening audiences.

"And people who claim they won't see it still will."

But will people "pay" to see it? I plan to wait until it's at the library so I can borrow it for free. I know a number of fans who are also boycotting. No reason to see this without Luke, Han or Leia. It's Star Wars in name only.

Worldwide box office for Episode 9 - $400-500 million max.

Star Wars in name only - SWINO...ROFLMAO...What a fitting nickname we got here :D

I cringed when Rian Johnson said that Star Wars needed to be fixed in order to thrive. Lucas was able to keep the franchise popular for 40 years. Johnson and Kennedy's believing something was broken ultimately destroyed Disney SW.
