Very few viewers are able to see the final twist coming. But I figured it out based on the first three minutes of movie. Those old documentaries for the same purpose of psychological experiments by US government have given enough clues about what this movie is about.

Still, yes it was an ambiguous ending.
The ending is by far the worst part of this movie. There is no "twist" at the end, because there's no solid conclusion.
