Everyone trying to say that the crew is having an hallucinatory experience are giving the writers far too much credit. They seem to have forgotten that this is a typical low budget SyFy flick. The script was probably drafted by one of their hack writers after a tequila soaked, crack fueled bender during which he/she thought "Sure...the moon could crash into the earth...it could happen!!" This movie is exactly what you see, a crappy, low budget, waste of time. But that's just my opinion.

I thought they said something crashed into the moon, which caused a massive amount of moon dust to fall to Earth. Which then seemingly turns out to have been a lie when the hatch opens and what appears to be natural light comes through the opening.

My problem with the movie is that this entire thing seems to serve no actual purpose. They're only experiencing the isolation associated with a long space mission. They have gravity. They have air coming from an outside source(hence being able to get outside via the ventilation system. There's no apparent "emergency release" for the door in case something went seriously wrong down there.

Then if everything outside of the hatch is just a "test" what the hell is the point of it? There's exactly 0 chance of them encountering this scenario on their mission.

I was intrigued and then the writers ruined everything they attempted to setup by abjectly refusing to give the audience any answers.

I had more the impression it was written by a 12 year old who just doesn't know anything about what astronauts actually do.
