Warriors

Really like this show and maybe it's because I'm a teacher although not in the US.

Was thinking about what anyone else thought of the school Mascot being a First Nation person, is it really that common in the US? I was a bit uneasy about the scene where the Percival learners were smashing a piñata effigy of a Brave Warrior. I think if something like that happened in a commonwealth country it would cause headlines.

Then again US high schools have mascots that are Minutemen and I'm sure effigies of them are also made. Although I do see the merits of this scene as it demonstrates the lack of respect Percival has for North Jackson, I'm just curious if there is a mood in the US for changing mascots? Not necessarily racist ones, such as the much cited NFL team but generally speaking.

Yes it is. In fact Warriors is the mascot of the high school this show was filmed at and is coincidentally the high school I went to.
