Questions about Pedro Pascal character (Spoilers)

When talking to Denzel in the kitchen doesn't he make if sound like he was fired from CIA (or FBI or which ever agency he was working for). Which is the reason why he became a contract killer... but he still has a job with an agency which is why he went with the Susan character to the crime scene... it doesn't make sense...

It's all about the Benjamins. That exactly made the movie so weak, in old days people at least betrayed agencies for the KGB or so. Just doing it for some extra money is absolutely mehh, but likely also more real. But reality is often just boring.

He hadn't been fired ... yet.

He was saying that "people like us" eventually DO get fired and abandoned, so he felt justified in exploiting his position while he still had it.
