IMDb is totally dead now...

It's one problem to close down the message boards completely, but also another problem to do it the day before they were supposed to close down.

RIP IMDb. Lost and forgotten

We can only hope that one day, whether it be a few months from now, or a few years from now, IMDB and Amazon decide to reverse their decision, they'll only do it if they realize that their pages were being visited by more message board lurkers and forum posters than they thought.

Had they not heard of Digg? Diggs demise in part fueled the rise of Reddit with the great Digg exodus back in 2008(? ish).
With a few tweaks Digg could have easily be where reddit is now, but now they are just another news aggrigator.

Agree. Same thing with Fark. Don't screw with success, it's only going to bite you in the ass. I would like to see how much traffic they've lost over the past month.

reply

They have more visitors now than before the announcement and closing of the boards. I assume the spike is all about the Oscars. http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/imdb.com

They're back to average now but they probably also work very hard at keeping their numbers up.

reply

those numbers could be fudged by bots

reply

It's still the place to go for straight information about films and shows. Some of the boarders needs to get their heads out of their asses.
