S8 E2 - Did I miss something? (possible spoiler)

I've been binge watching this and really enjoyed it for awhile but the story telling has really gone downhill. The latest is S8 E2. Bonnie leaves to take care of her mother who had a stroke and Will complains as if this happens frequently. But I saw no evidence of that. In frustration, he takes off on his motorcycle even though he promised her and Ernie that he would give it up for a while. But did he leave Ernie alone in the house? I'm in the U.S. so maybe some scenes were cut.

For several episodes, I fast forward to the scenes with Leonard. He's the most sympathetic character and his struggles were more interesting than most of the murders anyway.
