In the home (while Saroo was young) rhat was banging his head against the wall? (that they took out his room at night for doing that in class)

I wondered that at first, but the troubled boy in the orphanage was called Shondeep not Mantosh.

No but they both bring up a necessary dark edge of the story of the missing and abused forgotten children of India. Were they molested by men?

It was certainly implied that Shondeep was. Why else was he removed from the orphanage in the middle of the night with instructions to "have him back by morning"?
