The first half is amazing, and then Dev Patel shows up...

And I don't mean to say anything bad about Dev Patel cause he's fantastic as an actor,

but that point in the film it just wasn't nearly as well done or edited as that first section in India.

I would've loved the film if it had been a short subject just chronicling that little boy. Stunning on every level.

And of course the ending was beautiful.

But man, that "Second Act" makes this film more of a B+ than like an A+

I agree. The movie was weak when it came to the adult Saroo (or Sheru being his real name, i.e. LION).

You nailed it. This is exactly how I saw it. First half was excellently made. Once they got to older years, it came off as incredibly conventional and underwhelming.

That's because nothing happens. He lives a normal life. they should have faked some drama.

They should have chopped 30 minutes of him sulking as an adult.
