Ending scene

Was I the only one shocked by how trash and unnecessary were the real-life pictures and the video of the two mothers with Sia as background dance music? It felt like a reality show what the hell.

reply

I absolutely LOVED seeing the real scenes with hi real mothers at the end! It was REAl. All of this happened and it was such a lovely moment to have shared with us the real pics at the end.

Im honored they agreed to show them.

reply

Me too, that always makes the movie! And this was such a lovely story to be able to see the real people. Same with Hidden Figures.

I have yet to see it as I am in Adelaide, South Australia and it has only been previewed once down here. It comes out nationally on the 19th January. However, I know what you are referring to, and I thought I'd give you more insight into the last scene with the real mothers. 60 Minutes (Australia) were with Saroo and his adoptive mum when he returned to bring the two mothers together, so it wasn't an act. It was the real meeting at the time. As for music, well, what does it really matter what the music was? that's kind of irrelevant.

reply

The music is not irrelevant. You spend two hours with piano, violins etc. watching a well acted movie with a precise artistic aim and then boom. Here it comes the dance music used in reality shows with a real-life video. It felt really like a was watching MTV.
The fact that people seem to like this kind of stuff in films makes me sad because it means that people's taste has really gone downhill.
I wanted to watch a movie, not a tearjack TV program for houswives. If I had wanted to see it, I would have stayed at home watching the TV special.

Seeing the meeting of the two real Mothers at the end, was the best part of the movie...it was so touching it brought tears to my eyes, and I believe it would do so to any woman. You are a man, aren't you ? You're trying to fool us with the picture of the beautiful Asian girl by your name, but no woman could be as insensitive as you sound.

reply

That's kinda sexist. I'm a man and I'm not afraid to admit I cried during this film. I've known plenty of women who wouldn't have cried. Not all women are overly emotional and not all men are cold and unfeeling

reply

Yes,i agree

reply

fully agree, that part left a very bad taste. It was as instead of putting a cheery on the pie, they dropped a pile of *beep* on it.

reply

The ending was perfect, including the music. The song was upbeat and celebratory, which fit what was shown onscreen perfectly. I didn't expect to see this and was surprised and happy with it. Really kicked it up several notches to a higher level.

reply

Exactly, it was dumbed down to that point. But good for u man.

reply

It was great seeing the real pictures and footage, brought out the tears. It really drives home that people genuinely went through this.

Stop listening to the static.

reply

Totally disagree, I loved it. Made me tear up.

I loved the whole ending sequence. I remember at one point in the early stages of the movie I wondered why it's called Lion, then I forgot all about it, and then in the end I was so happily surprised when they explained it.

Do you even know what honor is?
