TBH i thought it was better than the first Godzilla and the Kong movie. Also better than Godzilla vs Kong.

People hated it? I guess I'm out of touch. I like it and I really disliked those other two.

Maybe hate is a strong word, but it seemed like it was disliked by most.

It's generally considered to be the worst of the Monsterverse films. It's also the lowest rated critically.

I liked it fine. But speaking for myself, it does have problems in between the monster fights. Which are spectacular by the way. Worth a ticket price.
The human characters are mostly forgettable. They're not annoying, to be fair, but they could had been more interesting. There are exceptions like Ken Watanabe and Vera Fermiga. The drama regarding the family squabble was done better in every Spielberg movie ever. Hell, for a moment I thought they were hinting at the dad and the Asian chick getting together but nothing comes from it.
The movie introduces stuff like alien life exists and that apparently Atlantis exists (before they nuked it) but doesn't really do anything with that. Like they could had worked those elements into the Titan mythology of these movies better.
'KOTM' is not a bad film by no means, but it's messy.

Because King Kong was not in this one
