Is it just me or...

Is Vera Farmiga kind of a shitty actor? The delivery of her lines often feel really contrived and fake. I thought the movie was really entertaining and well done, but Vera really stood out like a sore thumb in this one. I've had some negative thoughts about her performances in some of the Conjuring movies too, but never enough to really say anything about it. This time I think it's pretty clear she's not the best actor. Her daughter (the lead in the Nun) might actually be a lot better than her.

Do you remember ANY good acting in a Godzilla flick all through the 70s?

What matters to Godzilla fans are the creatures.

If they every bring back those two stupid singing miniature twins in a future MOTHRA movie, I’mma go to the premiere and throw my own turds at them.

True, Godzilla films have never been known as canvases for great performances. I think I was just honing more in on my opinion that Vera isn't very good, and it was this movie that helped solidify that for me. I agree, the singing twins would have taken the film to an absurd place. I thought they did a pretty good job of paying homage to Godzilla lore while still attempting to ground it a bit more. Although if Ziyi Zhang was playing identical twins (as she's listed on IMDB as playing both Dr. Ilene Chen and Dr. Ling) I missed that entirely in the movie. Maybe they cut that out ultimately -and perhaps they did go there with them doing the song and everything and concluded it just wasn't working tonally!

Her "daughter" Taissa is actually her little sister...

The best acting in Godzilla movies was those intense Japanese guys who used to play the scientists and military officers in the 1960s movies. Those dudes were awesome.

Nah, she's pretty good from what I've seen. However, she might had been miscast. Her voice sounded odd in the trailers.
