Movie suffers from some pacing issues but watchable.

I think this could be a pretty good movie, but it doesn't develop and pace scenes very well, the script feels poorly edited... the scene where the woman comes and sees the ghost and dies... that whole scene is setup too hastily, it lacks atmosphere and intensity, it misses its mark and is just very lukewarm, and it should have really drawn you in, actually you should have been drawn in already... so this movie suffers from quality directing, pacing, and editing, and the sound engineering also seems a bit of a miss...

A great idea, similar to the movie SINISTER in some ways, but really lacking the cahones of SINISTER...

And movie just got worse using a celtic symbol for the goddess to make it a story of black magick, when that symbol is used in white magick... I really wanted to like this movie...

"I'm only a school teacher I know nothing about your son" wait five seconds and she knows everything...

And why does the blind man have a flash light to give him?

The ending with the bridge was really simplistic and cliched...

I really wanted to like this movie, there's potential, but the editing is fairly bad, pacing issues, the music is banal, and the film overall lacks consistency and atmosphere.

The movie lacks heart I'd say and depth.

I agree, its bad but watchable.

Having in mind Nicolas "Really Great movies" in the last 5-7+ years or so, before I even start it I was pretty sure that I will fast forward-skip, or completely stop it before the 30 min mark.
However I've watched it to the end :/ and I've rated it 4/10......
Usually latest Cages movies are between 1 and 2/10 in my list.....I even surprised my self by giving 4/10 in Cage move.

I do like the National Treasure movies, they're a fun, light fair, but I'm a sucker for the archaeology, Indiana Jones thing...

I like National Treasure movies too but the last one was released in 2007, 8 years back.
I like cage dont get me wrong, I think he is a really great actor but a crackpot when it comes to picking jobs-movies.

I heard he had some financial troubles that caused him to take anything and make some bad decisions.

I laughed at those too.

There was also some bad CGI in the movie, a lot of it unnecessary. The scene with the psychic or whatever being lifted up against the wall didn't need to be completely CGI. Parts of it you couldn't even see her whole body, they could have just had the actress stand on a ladder and have fans blow her hair around.

And the other scene where Cage is chasing after the bus and the CGI taxi skids out of the way, come on.

All that being said, Cage's other recent B movies (Rage, Seeking Justice, Trespass, Stolen, etc) make this look like Matchstick Men or Lord Of War!

Haha just finished watching it. I thought it was a bit of improvement in terms of overall quality over the last few Nicolas cage movies I've seen. Still thought the movie was pretty mediocre but for a cod movie ita worth a one time watch. Hopefully cage returns to form, sooner rather then later lol.

I thought it started out okay, and then just tanked.

Yeah...

The psychic scene.

The school teacher/colleague exposition. So obvious...

The flashlight -- with charged batteries, no less. Laughable.

Gives away his watch & then 'be back by midnight or else'...it's like...can I have my watch back, then, so I can keep track?

Wretched CGI...and the whole corridor bit.

Bad acting, bad writing, rushed...

I almost couldn't watch it all the way through.

Too bad...could have been promising, I think, had it been handled competently.

She knows nothing of his son, but she knew of the historic ritual. Totally different.

And at the first visit, he also carried a torch for Mike's sake. Perhaps he was more than human. Perhaps some type of gatekeeper. He knew to show up both times Mike came and was the only one who stayed behind during Halloween.
