This definitely looks like one of those types of roles that Nic Cage not only excels at, but there are very few people who can do it as well as him. I'm pumped.

Nic is one of the best eccentric actors out there. when he tries to do plain-Jane serious acting or stars in a too commercially driven film he often is awful
but when he just acts like a weirdo its great
pretty much the only 'normal' roles I can think of where he was good would be maybe National Treasure or some of his action vehicles (just because they were so wonderfully cheesy)
If i go crazy will you still call me Superman?
