Good film
The ending makes sense.
Cage at his quirky best.
He had good chemistry with Wood.
Agree. I thoroughly enjoyed it and found it quite refreshing not to end with the usual formulaic script. Seems we may be in the minority though as many people think the ending was illogical. I posted my thoughts on this in another thread.
shareyes I liked it too. Thought both Cage and Wood were pretty decent throughout, and the plot was good enough to keep my interest. Solid 7
shareI had serious doubts going in but it was a good movie. Quirky, yes. I kinda wish they'd filled in a couple of things BUT I like that you're left to let your mind wander.
Oh, and loved seeing Steven Williams. He pops up in the most random places but its always a treat.
Only thing that bothered me is how Elijah's character completely trusted the woman. I thought he would dial the number and try to confirm who was on the other line first. I mean Wood and Cage are both police, they could have tried to call in fat guy cop to ask who the owner of the number was. But no moron Elijah just dials the number and hands the woman the phone.
shareI thought he would dial the number and try to confirm who was on the other line firstYou're right, this is what I thought also. Just goes to show how unrealistically stupid his character was.
I enjoyed this much more than I thought I would. One of Nic's better ones. Far more palatable than "Trespass," for heaven's sake. And I feel Elijah Woods' character was pretty consistent. (I see here on this board a great deal of complaining about his "turnaround.") He wasn't the most eager partner in crime, and had no idea Cage had already killed once in cold blood--although he was getting wise after the second death. Was it really a surprise that he freaked out toward the end, and did not like the idea of killing the girl? (Or that he made a fatal error out of compassion)? Everything in his demeanor was nervous and jumpy and unhappy.
The character we don't know about is Cage who was either psychopathic or extremely clever or both. And what the hell--Jerry Lewis?
Deserves a higher rating, IMO.
