Well, I enjoyed it! Why so underrateed?

I loved this movie. I am learning to ignore critics, as a lot of the time they agree with my choice in movies, and still a lot of the time I see a movie and think, "Well I sure am glad I saw this anyway, despite reviews". This is one of those movies. And was glad to see it is a "true story" as well! Worth it.

I enjoyed it very much, too. It's an old-fashioned-type movie telling a classic story.

I enjoyed it. I walked by Freddie around the Summer of 1970, I said, "Hi", he smiled and said the same. You never know what will happen in life.

The movie won't end up in my top ten sports list, or on my "Top 10 Films in 2015" list but I liked it more than the critics.

It isn't the finest movie with the best script and directing, but it was enjoyable and heartbreaking nonetheless. I think if they kept the same cast and script, but changed the director it would've fared a bit better than originally.

Though at times my thoughts do align with the critics, I barely share the same amount of enthusiasm for whatever movie and/or performance they acclaim. Always make your own conclusions and to barely pay attention to what the critics say; it's best to get a cursory understanding on how they view a movie and/or performance and then decide for yourself. I've noticed a couple of movies praised to high heavens, then I see it, like it, then review what the critics say to only wonder why they're so high on it. It's a strange world, the movie industry.

Remember: Critics control the narrative of whether a movie and its performances are good or bad. They're the referees. I think it's best to ignore their words, acclaim or no acclaim, until you see the particular movie. You will then see what's overrated and learn how critics have a beehive mentality.

Evidently this thread is a gathering ground for the worst judges of movies on IMDB. I'll see myself out immediately.

Agree, even as a Texan born native, this was bad. I had recognized Sarah Bolger from the Tudors and could hear her Irish accent in scenes and that so took me out of the love scenes.

It's refreshing to know I'm not alone. I feel like these viewers must be taking crazy pills... and there's a subtle reference to a classic comedy the OP hated, Zoolander.

So people are crazy just because they enjoyed a movie you personally didn't like? Right. I honestly do not get what was bad at all about the movie, I don't get it. It's a great & sad story that many don't know about and the movie was done well and had a great cast. I've read reviews and comments from people that actually knew Freddie or the coach and they really liked the movie.
