The movie won't end up in my top ten sports list, or on my "Top 10 Films in 2015" list but I liked it more than the critics.
It isn't the finest movie with the best script and directing, but it was enjoyable and heartbreaking nonetheless. I think if they kept the same cast and script, but changed the director it would've fared a bit better than originally.
Though at times my thoughts do align with the critics, I barely share the same amount of enthusiasm for whatever movie and/or performance they acclaim. Always make your own conclusions and to barely pay attention to what the critics say; it's best to get a cursory understanding on how they view a movie and/or performance and then decide for yourself. I've noticed a couple of movies praised to high heavens, then I see it, like it, then review what the critics say to only wonder why they're so high on it. It's a strange world, the movie industry.
Remember: Critics control the narrative of whether a movie and its performances are good or bad. They're the referees. I think it's best to ignore their words, acclaim or no acclaim, until you see the particular movie. You will then see what's overrated and learn how critics have a beehive mentality.
