The vampires may be the ones who started it, but it looks like the lycans are reigniting the war. The new leader is rallying them up for an attack on the vampires. It seems fitting that they defend themselves :)
shareMakes no sense narrative wise. As I said in my post (I made it before seen this post) they spent three moves showing that lycans were the victims of Viktor and his vampires only to suddenly do a 180% and just makes them the villains, because.

shareHumans as the villains made so much more sense before they made it so it was the lycans behind it all. We're all terrible lol.
sharemy fanfic idea was bad humans would want to harness the virus to make themselves super and dominate all three, giving all three sides a common enemy. Resident Evil I know but it made the most sense. I thought in the first movie they establish that there is synthetic blood making them not much of a threat to humans, and humans would want immortality so they wouldn't just kill them.
shareHumans would still hunt them regardless of the synthetic blood as they would see them as a threat. Just look at most of human history. That's what they originally had planned until for some reasons they went down a different path with the fourth film. The lycans are really the evil guys plot was so rushed for that reason.
shareWell to me it seems, both sides are the bad guys, Vampires may of started the war, but also have to remember, to the vampires. Lycans were animals that only after centuries of warfare, were they able to take human form. But the Lycans are not innocent, both sides have done many wrongs and that is what Selena wants to end, at current, to much bad blood on both sides for either to ever give up. Unless that changes, it will be a endless war with humans caught in the middle.

shareI’m not sure that Marius is 100% bad. From the latest trailer, my guess is that Semira is in league with Marius, and they’re both trying to get the blood they need for ultimate power. Sort of like Kraven striking a deal with Lucian in the first film.
Marius said, “she is the key to the futures of lycans and vampires.” Then Semira staged a coup: we see her and some people with guns approaching a circle of vampires. Maybe there are two vampire factions. Marius and Semira could be out to destroy the peaceful faction and seize power for themselves.
he also says "i just want your blood" I saw someone drawing blood from her neck. maybe he doesn't want to kill her. maybe he does not even want to destroy. maybe they're sticking with the forumla of lycans wanting to upgrade and adapt and survive.
