what do you mean? are you referring to box office $$$ or just your liking or not liking these particular January films? personally, i'm excited that both this movie and the final RES EVIL movie are both being released in January. it will be a good month movie-wise for me.
He's referring that he doesn't like any of these series. RE looks good despite the last one bring total shït. Underworld is one of the few series that has actually improved with each succeeding movie. Looking forward to both. Triple crap X looks even worse than the first one and that's saying a lot.
larosat, i'm completely shocked and happy that this final RE movie looks so good. i absolutely hated RETRIBUTION so much (i loved the first 4 RE movies though) that i never thought the franchise could redeeem itself but going by what i've seen (trailers/teasers/pics/etc) this final film could very well end up being the best RE movie for me.
They're just kind of bottom of the barrel franchises... Underworld, Resident Evil, XXX, Amityville. The first two mainly, I'm surprised they are still able to get projects greenlit that are not DTV or made for Spike TV. XXX is hardly even a franchise... and whatever it was died over ten years ago quietly. Amityville is just trash and of course is going to be terrible. "Monster Trucks" is one of the strangest looking movies ever made, in a bad way. The past few comedies starring Robert De Niro in a gimmicky performance have been some of the worst movies of their respective years. M Night Syamlan and Owen Wilson I feel bad of for pointing at, but they are right there in the January battlefield with the rest of them.
And, yes, they will all be January bombs, except for Amityville, because Jason Blum made it and that means it only cost 50 dollars. But who allowed all these movies to be made, and why?

Honestly what does it matter to you? Are you looking to leave some money at the movies in January? And there is nothing good to spend your money on? If that's not it then why does it bother you? Just ignore that month and go twice the next or whatever.
No, I just think it's funny. I honestly don't see much of a difference between the Resident Evil and Underworld franchises and something like "I, Frankenstein".

I think the difference you're looking for is that Underworld in 2003 made $51 million dollars gross on a $23 million dollar budget while I, Frankenstein made a gross of $19 million on a $66 million dollar budget.
Underworld franchise with a total production budget of $175 million has made $500 million worldwide.
Resident Evil franchise with a total production budget of $250 million has made $900 million worldwide.
Yeah, and in Nazi Germany, films about the wonderful Dr. Goebbels made gangbusters. Thankfully, that audience is dead, and making a film like that would draw some serious red flags at the FBI.
Underworld and Resident Evil lose viewers with each entry of the franchise. Personally, I was lost at entry one for Underworld, and entry two for Resident Evil, only because I've never seen the first one. With those views, I gave those franchises money that they won't get again. I think box office numbers reflect this trend in people, to not repeat a mistake. Studios are the ones who don't seem to learn this lesson.

What are you talking about, Underworld Awakening did best of all the Underworld movie, and made Worldwide $160 million.
It did much better then all the other Underworld movies, that's why they made this 5th Underworld movie, so sorry but I do not know what you are talking about.
Split has an interesting trailer and people are offended!
January VOD has graphic novel adaptation of "Bad Kids of Crestview Academy"
I am sick of Underworld and Resident Evil movies. I have friends who want to see them though, so if I'm feeling masochistic maybe I'll tag along ... Amityville could be a decent Redbox rental.
My first draft of the post had "the Bye Bye Man", but I took it out because I didn't want people to think I was stupid. I know I didn't come up with the title, but just seeing those words next to my name in any context would make people subconsciously think I was stupid.
And I would watch "Split", I actually like Shyamalan's movies. But it's no coincidence it's a January release.
