sharehate to burst your bubble but....It was originally thought that this was Kate Beckinsale's last movie playing the character Selene, but Len Wiseman has confirmed a sixth movie is in development with Beckinsale reprising her character.

moonnight072, i would love what you said to be true. i love Kate in these UW movies. do you have a link to where Len said that a 6th Kate starring UW movie is in the works? i have not been able to find anything of the sort saying that.

shareSadly with the way Sony is handling this release, it's clear this is the last. The Facebook promo even says "The Greatest War Will Be Her Last".
My guess is Kate is done with the franchise after divorcing Len Wisemen (who created the first one with her) recently. Why would she want to continue playing a character she started with her ex husband? Sony is putting this out to die, sadly. I was doubtful this would even be made, so at least we have it!

and the answer is simple...$$$.
much like Milla Jovovich (who along with Kate i also adore) in the RES EVIL movies, Kate's big paycheck's come from the UW movies. with the UW movies Kate is able to negotiate good $$$ because (i'm pretty sure) she's considered integral to their success. Kate hasn't really had another hit that wasn't an UW film for a long time (and i don't mean to sound like i'm trashing her. again, i love Kate).
That's a good point. She did get Oscar buzz though this year for her role in Love and Friendship. I definitely think she's in a lot better shape to leave a franchise than Milla Jovovich, who I like as well.
sharei've heard great things about LOVE & FRIENDSHIP! i've been meaning to watch it but just haven't gotten around to it yet. i also love Chloe Sevigny who co-stars with Kate in that movie. i agree w/ you that Kate may be in a better place when leaving the UW franchise (more so than Milla may be. even though i despised RETRIBUTION, i do love the first 4 RE movies and i'm happy that i think that THE FINAL CHAPTER looks awesome!).
shareKate Beckinsale was recently asked about Underworld 6 and she simply said "I don't know yet. Maybe I'll do another. It all depends if there is a good story. But so far we didn't had asingle discussion about it." I don't think that it's a problem that she is divorced from Len Wiseman. He is not the only producer. I think he was the only one who didn't even promote this new film.

they want to do atleast one more, but i think they should pass the torch on. i got the impression that kate did not want to be in this one. i thought that is why the daughter was there to being with.
