Okay this is just a theory of mine but I think they cleverly hinted that Michael isn't really dead. Selene had to die before she could transform into the Nordic vampire species. I think the sequel will have Selene track down Michaels body and do the ritual Lena did to her to bring him back. The idea of death not being the end is very heavily touched on in Blood Wars. I think the movie is a bit smarter than we're giving it credit.

Me too! I really hope she's the main villain of the next film. Viktor survived the same kind of wound and he did have the Corvinus blood so, there is almost no way she's dead. Shes a great villain and even though it was kind of a cop out Im completely fine with Michael leaving the series, his character never interested me really anyway. I do hope to see more of eve tho in the next one, her relationship with Selene was interesting.
shareExactly! I haven’t seen the film yet, but from what I hear, Semira was either a victim of bad writing or she didn’t actually die. Even Michael sounds like he’s only permanently incapacitated, so if he died, they didn’t show it on screen.
If they do a TV series, I hope they have Semira in it, either as a lovable villain or she could turn good. The morality of the vampires has always been ambiguous anyway.

I hadn’t heard of Lara Pulver before this, but it sounds like her performance is very good, and one of the highlights of the film. So it would be a pity if they decided not to bring her back.
The movie itself is getting torn to spreads rn but it's actual quite good. I think it's on par with the first 2. I absolutely loved it.

I don't get, I really don't. They could easily bring in a new actor to play Michael if Scott Speedman refuses to return. Why didn't they do it for Blood Wars?
It might be a pipe dream but I was just spit balling ideas for a sequel. Tbh I wanna see Semira join a new group of Lycans, they infect her, and turn her into a Marcus/bat-like hybrid(she has the Corvinus blood from Selene so she can be a hybrid). I absolutely loved the design of Marcus and want to see another character be a hybrid like that!

shareIt'll definitely be more appealing if Speedman would show up! I can understand him not wanting involvement in "Awakening!" I watch it, but thought it the worst of the lot; even cut to being barely 75 min. when broadcast on cable! I'm so glad I gave up on going to theatre ages ago! I would have been very disappointed! Theo filled in the best he could! Rea s/b embarrassed being a part of this clunker!

Wasn't Speedman's choice not to appear in Awakening.Not confirmed as of yet, I think? Speedman has always said that he prefers the more indie style movies, the smaller character driven ones, and blockbuster type movies like triple X and Underworld were the exceptions. I think Speedman was a bit of a family friend of Beckinsale and Wiseman, I'm guessing that's how he ended up getting/accepting the Michael part. He probably did it as a favour. Beckinsale jokingly said something along the lines of him being their family pet, in some interview. share
It has been confirmed by Len Wiseman himself. I'm still surprised people blame this on Speedman when it's been confirmed by one of the creators themselves.
