Ending theory (Spoilers)

if you don't want to know the ending DON"T read further. If this is the final movie, than I wonder if the final scene was to show a LOSTish kind of ending. They kept going on about the in between place and limbo and death. Selene seems to be out of her rut, saying she could die tomorrow or live a thousand years. Than she's at the ice coven again and we see her daughter. I don't think this the way they mean to come across, but let's just say it is the final one. what if what we actually see is the in between place, and that she's reuniting with her daughter who's also died. Very unlikely, but being an elder is dangerous and her daughter is hunted. so who knows? it's an intriguing thought on a bizarre ending.

Interesting theory. Or what if Selene went back under the ice to power up again, and that scene is a death vision? Maybe she could meet Eve in death and then come back. Although I don’t know whether she would want to come back after being reunited with Eve like that.

I haven’t seen the film, so I don’t know if my guess is plausible.

I'm thinking maybe they just let their ability to see one another come back into them and so Eve was able to find her. Or maybe she knew where she was, but was somehow able to protect her still and hide her, despite the fact she knew. Like even if they drank blood memories they still couldn't see her. A Corvinus benefit? I don't know, that's another few theories. I don't know if they have any merit or not, though.

i did wonder if the final shot was somehow their psychic bond. selene would be psychic now I guess and perhaps the powers are enhanced.

Being submerged in the ice water made her psychic, or being an Elder? I figured she had suppressed it during the movie and then opened herself back to it.

So Selene wants to reunite with only her daughter in death? Guess Selene's feelings for Michael were really rather superficial and short term. She doesn't even want to spend the after life with him so he gets killed off in her afterlife. Geez, poor Michael.

i think it will depend on how much money it makes, plus who wants to do what. kate and len divorced, but they've said they want to make another with her in it, and even a tv show. i think they went with this strange ending as a way of 'coming full circle' in order to have it be the ending if they can't make more, but leave the door open if they can.

The ending of blood wars sets up for the final film. The producers said they are making one final movie after blood wars and it'll be kates last movie as well.

It's already announced that the ending of blood wars is setting up for underworld 6 and the sixth movie is the last one Kate said it'll be her last movie playing selene. Michael can still return

Where did you hear that? The only source I know about is a video of Len Wiseman from 2014. Last time I checked, Kate hadn’t said anything definite about a sixth film.

They are making a sixth film that will be the final film in the series. Kate is returning one last time. The ending in blood wars is open ended to set up the opening for the final movie. I just hope Michael comes back and isn't just left out of the movie I want the same guy to reprise his role obviously they computer generated his face in Awakening which is better than nothing but still them together and their relationship is what made the series from 1-2. 2 is my favorite so far. I just hope they bring him back for the sixth film to tie up all lose ends.

i would absolutely love for them to do one final film and conclude this saga, but they also want to continue for a tv show. So depending on what they do with that, they may not even have a proper ending but rather just end it ambiguously like they did with this one

Joking right? Michael was the whole reason the franchise went to *beep* Character turned ridiculous and cartoonish. As soon as the introduced Michael, the whole story went off tracks.

No, that's not the in between place. Eve's appearance is not hallucination either.

Selene is finished with the war. Even though she has become an Elder, she did not stay and rule the Eastern Coven. Instead, she was meditating about her life after a thousand years of struggling and killing. The ending has a rich zen and philosophical undertone unprecedented in the franchise.

That's one of the reasons why I love the new instalment so much. It concludes the series very well, and the ending is full of depth.

PS: The score was breathtaking as the title reappeared in the end! I also noticed that the music from the Underworld mobile game had been used in the movie. Fantastic!

What? That would mean BW takes place 300+ years after Awakening and that was already debunked by one of the people in charge. Even if the ending is a flash forward looking back kind of deal. Wasn't Eve in that frame looking pretty much still like a kid when she should be an adult?
