i saw it already....the box office is gonna be a disaster
....why did they release it in ANY country?....of course everyone will see it before it hits theaters. Smh....

shareyeah, i do not understand why studios do that staggered(?)/roll out release the way BLOOD WARS is doing it. surely they must know that a cam'd version of the film will show up online within a week of it's first opening (in Russia, Argentina, Australia, etc., etc.). i honestly can't even come up with a possible good reason why studios would release a movie over a month earlier in one region and then release it the following week in another regions and so forth and so forth.
shareLol, where have you been, Jet?
There IS ALREADY a cam version online for this movie, lol. The quality was quite good, by the way.
That's crazy. I think Sony doesn't care about Underworld anymore. They're clearly focusing on Resident Evil.
hi kobold! is the cam you're referring to this one (it's just a pic of screengrabs from the only cam i know about)...

the reason why i ask is because this cam's quality was not very good at all and it was also filmed off center (like the person who filmed it sat on the far right (or left?) side of the theater).

I tried to watch it online, and I agree, the quality was horrible. I'm planning to see it at the cinema, anyway, but wanted to see some parts before it's out in the UK. The only one I found was crooked and dark with poor sound quality.
Go with your heart, buddy. Our brains only screw things up.
That's really stupid from Sony Pictures. + week would be ok but a whole month? That NEVER WORKED. Look at Inferno or Warcraft, thos movies were also released later in the US and they did absolutely terrible there. Same counts for other movies.
shareThe Great Wall is another film in a similar situation: Already released in China, doesn't come out in North America until February.
shareChina is the second largest market. Its almost the equivalent of releasing it in the US. That said, waiting until Feb seems a bit extreme.

What you failed to point out is that many of these films performed better internationally than they did in North America and that they're also places where piracy has more of a chance of legitimately affecting box office. It makes perfect sense to release them there first, because they run less risk of having that be a factor right away. I think that here in the States, a higher percentage of people watching bootlegs were never going to pay to see it to begin with, or that the audience for some of these films, particularly a drama like "Inferno" that's aimed more at our parents, aren't the types that watch bootlegs online.
Child of the Eighties.
Man of the Nineties.
Man-Child of the Twenty-First Century.
Well, even if there's a camera version video online (I don't ever watch those kind) and I read some spoiler, I still will watch it in theaters. Also, it has already made 42 millions (and still climbing) oversea, which is a good start so maybe when it's released in USA, it's going to rake in good amount of money.
But yes, I thought that's a stupid thing to do, release it in one country where spoilers and bootleg version videos would surface. If they release the film in all countries at the same time, it would probably help, but we'll see what happens when it's released next Friday. Should have been released this month.
I have a secret. I have a: You looked. I'm disappointed in you. 😖
Who hates movies so much that they would be willing to watch a camera version video online?!
shareREALLY? Just because you didn't like it doesn't mean it will bomb. I don't go around predicting movies are going to bomb just because I don't like them. I don't care for certain movie series but I don't TROLL boards trying to stop people from seeing them ;)
shareYou don't comprehend well. I wasn't talking about to quality of the film. I was referring to the decision to release it a month before it reaches here....the numbers would be as great because most of us have already seen it.
No movie I want to see is worth watching a CAM... I quit watching those after realizing how bad they ruin almost any film.
