Oh no... movie bombs in Russia and Germany

Awakening made 2,5 million dollars when it opened in Germany. Blood Wars is doing 750.000. Awakening was released in 720 theatres when it opened in Russia and made excellent 5,9 million dollars. Blood Wars was released in 1.300 theatres - but it only made 2.0 million dollars. I really hope it will do better in other countrys, especially in the US. But I am starting to feel that this film won't even make 10 million dollars on it's opening weekend in the US. That would be sad as I absolutely love this franchise.

They'll just go ahead with the tv series then. At least we got a 5th movie, more than we can say for many franchises.

Doesn't surprise me. Many were disappointed with Awakening and while the critics were fair (as in bad reviews because the movie is bad not because it's this franchise) they didn't find a whole good to say about Blood Wars.

They'll probably do the same thing that RE movies did.

Retribution ( fifth RE movie ) underperformed in USA, but made a fine money overseas. Producers revealed the final movie to finish the series.

Blood Wars seems to go the same way. Just wrap up the story. Bring Michael and Eve back, both vampires and lycans will need to team up against something stronger than both of them. The best characters died in the first 2 movies anyways ( Lucian and Victor, and Corvinus in Evolution ).

Yeah, and hopefully the team up wouldn't be against zombies...anything but more zombies...

More? You mean the whopping whole three zombie franchises is overwhelming to you?

Germany and Russia are not the only places where the movie comes out early. Did you check other territories?

It doesn't matter if it does not do well at box office. True fans will always watch and love and support the franchise. I, for example, have prepared to enjoy the movie in the cinema again and again, and collect limited edition Blu-ray.

Besides, this is the final movie anyway. You can tell from the way it ended. Underworld does not need a 6th movie, only because the ending of Blood Wars is perfect.

There might be a TV series, which you can look forward to.

reply

I'm a true fan and I still won't support this movie by buying a ticket. The ending of Evolution was already perfect. Should have left it at that.

reply

UnderworldRocks, I haven't checked other territories yet. I hope it's doing good in Australia. The sad thing is just that Russia and Germany were the biggest markets for Awakening outside the US. And Blood Wars is doing MUCH worser there than Awakening.

Also, Len Wiseman already said that they've had plans for Underworld 6 and Kate was always open about the future. When asked if she could imagine more creatures apart of Vampires and Lycans in the future, she was like: "Maybe as Anna Foerster likes monsters. We will see" and when asked if she could still imagine a crossover with another movie franchise then she also said "yes". I never heard her saying "This is the finale".

So, I hope they can do another. By the way, does anyone know how expensive this movie was? Awakening had a pretty big budget, 70 million dollars.

Will most likely not be shown in theaters in Denmark.
UIP who is the distributor of Sony's movies in Denmark, has not managed to provide it with a release date for January yet, which it should had been provided with over a month ago, if they wanted to fit it inside the schedules for January.

So no theatrical releases for Danish Underworld or Resident Evil fans of the two brand new movies in Denmark.

the same in here in Italy. warner italy really has not faith in it, it will released next April 6th. all the good HD torren and blu-ray will be out before this date and the movie will certanly flop in here.

Hi, thx for the reply. And Merry Xmas.
I love talking to other fans of the franchise, because we understand the rich mythology of UNDERWORLD, and speak the same language. Critics and haters cannot comprehend. LOL.

I think this is the finale, considering how the movie ended. Also, according to what I heard in the movie. Selene said, "My journey has come full circle."

But I look forward to spinoffs and prequels that explore other interesting characters, because the 5th movie greatly expanded the universe. I would love to learn more about the Nordic coven and the Sacred World.

Here is an interview. When asked about a crossover, she said it was important for the franchise to stay PURE. This shows that she might not agree to a crossover at all. She only said she could imagine a crossover because there are many crossover movies nowadays.
