I really liked it !! (Major Spoilers)

Honestly i was surprise. I mean i didn't hate any Underworld movies, actually i own them all, but i tough the first one was great, the 3 others just mindless fun action movies. Main problem is how they screw the timeline beyond repair (that even this one can't fix sadly) and second it never recaptured the essence of the first one.

This one did !!

The goth style coven mansion, good story even tough pretty simple but enough treachery to remind of the first movie, yet still surprised me many times. For exemple the rookie killing. I had a feeling those 2 where not clean but i wasnt expecting this at that moment. I expected Alexia to switch on Selene side, and boom surprised again.

And finally they wrapped the Michael Storyline. Yes yes im a bit pissed that they decided to kill him off but at least its done and all, no more guessing, no more bring scott back fan request.. And his death DO SERVE a purpose for the vilain of the story. Altough i find it a bit strange that just his blood can make Marrius so powerfull... hell he is more powerfull than Michael was... But its minor points i can roll with.

Action sequences where sharp and nicely filmed. As for the white vampires, im a bit 50/50. I guess Selene get much more powerfull than the other ones cause she had Corvinus blood in her, wich may explain why she teleport much more than any other of them. They had to keep them "grounded" cause if they where all like Selene at the end, they would had whiped the Lycans during the attack. lol

But if i must tweak on some minor things i had a bit trouble. I tough Selene should had been much more powerfull even pre-whited, after all she killed Markus in the second movie, the first ever vampire. And she even outpower him, no cheap shot. I know she was going easy on Vargas til he cheap shoted her, but she was a bit too much ragdolled by Marrius to me.

Im glad they gave back some relevance to Amelia, she was always mentioned as an Elder but we never seen much of her, but making David her son is maybe a bit too plot convenient? I dunno.

I feel im really nit picking cause honestly as a whole i had a blast with the movie and thats what count. I enjoyed Awakening but this one felt much better, and i am glad they kept Eve out, but still referencing her and not making the movie like she never existed (like they do with those horrible resident evil movies... forgetting Chris was there after the fourth etc)

And the conclusion is perfect. Selene become an elder in the council and the vamps are united again.

I could nitpick there too on the whole purge by the humans thing wich feel pretty useless now and is not even referenced once... lol. But meh...

Overall what matters is its a very nice movie in itself. It HAS to deal with the *beep* of the 3 last movies...

Alice is the worst character of all time, she need to die in the last movie. Chris/Jill are RE !!!

I think Selene was giving up when she wa fighting him at first I feel like she just kind of wanted to die she was tired of the constant battles

destroyerwod, i agree with you! i love the UNDERWORLD movies (part 3 is meh...) and BLOOD WARS was definitely very enjoyable! i too was very surprised with the trainee/rookie killings and actually very much liked that David turned out to be Amelia's son (i agree though that it was very VERY plot convenient!). that reveal surprised me as well.

i loved the Nordic Coven gig and especially Nordic Elder(?) Lena. if there ever is a 6th film, i'd love to learn more about that coven and it's people. i thought the David/Semira fight sequence was excellent! it was extremely well done.

You really liked it because you don't know anything about editing, plot construction, character building, lighting, cinematography or film in general.

And i presume you do Sackofwhine? Let me tell you this. I don't need to know how a computer is built to enjoy its feature. I don't need to know how a car is built to enjoy driving it.

What im trying to say is maybe your right, i would be terrible at editing a movie, maybe terrible at writing a story etc etc.

But i have seen more movies in my life than you im sure. I seen everything from cheap action flicks to blockbusters, hong kong kung fu movies, low budget horrors, fanmades and so on and on.

I can recognize what i like and this i liked. Yes the plot had problems but it had to deal with previous movies problems too, don't forget it. They did as best as they could. Characters where built decent enough. The lightning and filters match the style of the first movie, wich i always enjoyed, it gives a gothic themed style.

Anyway always amuse me to see a random dude complain about how a movie is made. Im SUUUUURE you could do better than this right? (sarcasm on)

I agree, I felt it captured the feel of the first two movies much better. It kind of felt like a mixture of the first two with the political intrigue of teh first and cross country treks and action sequences of the second. This is a much better continuation than Awakening was and mroe like what that film should have been.
