I kind of wish Michael was the villain.
I think it would've been more compelling if they mention how this 'Marius' was responsible for the Lycan uprising, but they never show him until Selene has her first confrontation. It's then revealed that it's Michael, who has lost his memories/brain washed, now functioning as the new villain. It would've made the narrative a lot more compelling for me, as Selene would be put in a position that might made her character a lot more interesting. She would be challenged in new ways, both emotionally and physically.
It would also make for some interesting dilemmas, especially if Michael was hunting for his daughters blood, not realizing the relation. Whether she's forced to kill him or he gets his memories back at the last moment, it would be a cool pay-off to their entire storyline.
Or at least it would be a pay-off and NOT the *beep* that we actually got.
