Was the feud inevitable?

so the vampires arose to deal with the zombie like werewolves who by the time of the original apparently were all hunted down. Yet let's say there that there was no Lucian and Sonja love story. lycans eventually got to control their change. Even with the moon shackles, in the prequel you see that lycans are chained up to wall to keep watch during the daylight. eventually, when daylight came, they could have changed back to human, slipped through the collar, and then just ran away, or changed back into lycan and started smashing the windows like they did in this movie. Either way, wasn't the feud bound to happen one way or another?

I would say yes, because the vampires always viewed the lycans as below them, as servants. They were not definitely viewed as equals, which is one reason the father vampire was so angered by his daughter being with Lucian. That Lucian had dared think himself that high was a mark against him. It was almost like his daughter had lain with an animal (no pun intended).

So, even if Lucian had never crossed the line, the vampires would never have seen the Lycans as equals.
