some little questions [includes spoilers]

Okay I watched this in French (with no subtitles, french or english) and French is not my first language, I'm still on the long slow path of learning lol. So there were some details I couldn't make out...

-- Why did that woman dump her lunch on Michele? What did she say?

-- In that first meeting at her job when she yelled at..I forget his name, Luc? The blonde guy...ended with her saying "well I'm the boss!" etc...what was her problem with the video game, the scene with the tentacles. Not believable to the plot of the game or something?

-- Who exactly did her dad kill, neighbors? Young people I think they said? And what happened with the fire?

-- Less important but, I couldn't make out why Helène dumped Richard. Something about his book lol?

Thanks. Sorry, I'm sure I look dumb, but I missed those. Thanks to anyone willing to help me out ;)

Also I see a lot of people on here saying the neighbor wife knew about her husband. I did pick up on her saying he was tortured and that Michele helped him but, did she say something else that showed she knew all along? I had thought she just was making those observations after the fact. But she did seem oddly un-phased.

The woman was someone who saw the documentary on the father and just assumed Michéle was as vile as her father. I forget the exact words she calls her but it certainly wasn't anything remotely respectable.

She was mad at Kurt - the employee - because she felt he wasn't putting in the quality work she demanded of her employees.

Just random people in the neighborhood. The father talked Michéle into helping him burn the evidence of the crimes.

She left Richard because he wasn't the writer she was enamored with. It was another fellow with a similar name.

Oh okay, awesome, thank you. And ouch, the last one about Helene and Richard!

Her issue with the video game was that she wanted the cutscene to be way more visceral, so you could practically feel yourself get splattered with blood.

Kurt tried to undermine her authority, saying she had the wrong priorities being from a literary background, didn't understand true gamers, her last hit was a fluke and that the controllers were glitchy. She put him in his place!

I think she was the psychopath and killed all of the people the Father had supposedly killed.

Everything she does in the film points to her being a total psychopath.

The manipulation of all of those around her. The total lack of any kind of emotion or empathy in any situation. Destroying people for fun. Humiliating people. She was a vile piece of work. This is not learned behaviour, you are born that way.

Now psychopathy is hereditary, so her Father may have killed his victims, but the fact she would never visit him said to me that that was how she punished him and that he was innocent. Why else would he still be appealing his case 36 years later. If he was a psychopath, he wouldn't have cared if he ever saw her again, but clearly he wanted to see her as the Mother kept begging her to visit him. He may also have covered for her and did the time for her crimes because she was his daughter.

The fact her Mother still stayed in contact with him says to me that he couldn't have been all bad as if he was a psychopath he would've always mistreated her in their life together. Thats what they do, ruin people however they can.

Yet dad strings himself up after he finds out that daughter will be visiting, afterall, after all these years. So maybe he actually did not want her to visit and mom was lying the whole time, manipulating the daughter into going to see dad so that dad would get mad and maybe do something drastic. Who knows.

did you watch the whole movie or fell asleep?

Nice going!! OP said he/she watched it in French which is not his/her first language.

Plus, I gotta admit the thing with Helene and Richard and that author having the same name went over my head as well (watched it in French with subtitles).
