shareshe's phenomenal actress She is a Living Legend. she's overdue to a nomination i hope she gets nominated for this.
shareThough she would richly deserve a nomination and win for that matter for her performance in Elle (and Things to Come also out this year) she'll be getting zip from the Academy this year.
There are too many English language performances for them to choose from and the film and her performance are way too tough for the Academy's tastes I'm afraid.
Still, if she can scoop the pool of the critics awards she might sneak in.
I'm quite confident that Huppert might get nominated for an Oscar one day, given her status in today's cinema. However, I find it unlikely that it will be for this. Keeping my thoughts on the film aside, its scabrous nature will hardly appeal to most of the Academy. Even with the preferential ballot, I don't think she can gather enough #1 passion votes to get in, considering her category is already packed with enough veterans and young darlings to choose from. Winning some big critic awards might help her chances, but I think she may still end up in the position of Timothy Spall in "Mr. Turner" or Adèle Exarchopoulos" in "La Vie d'Adèle". Critics' choice may be the only televised award she could be nominated for, maybe .
She'll probably win the EFA for Best Actress (haven't checked on their twitter if they started to kiss her butt the way they did Rampling's last year). Before seeing the movie, I would have thought her unbeatable at the Césars, but I'm not sure any longer: it's difficult for anyone who's familiar with her career to think that this was a film/role of a lifetime for her. And besides, there's strong competion there, too: Judith Chemla, Sandrine Kiberlain, Paula Beer (although I have the bad feeling she'll end up among the revelations), Adèle Haenel, Lou de Laâge, Bérénice Bejo etc..
I would be very happy if she got nominated- obviously-, although it would be a bit disappointing for her to get in for this Verhoeven collaboration when she couldn't for any of her Haneke or Chabrol performances (just to name some of her most iconic achievements). Oh, well. I won't complain if it happens.
Elle is really funny with all those pepful bindings in the plot.
I think Isabelle Huppert will win an Oscar if she will try to play Joker when she will be 95 yo.
Definitely a master performance, from one of the best living actresses worldwide. I think Madame Huppert here reprises some of the traits of maybe her most fascinating character overall, Erika Kohut from "La Pianiste".

She is a fantastic actress, but I can't see her winning for this film because her character seems lost in a very muddled mess of a random motivations.
