Elle Snubbed in 2016 Best Foreign Language Film Category Academy Awards

Yet it is one of the year's most critically acclaimed films.

The Playlist suggested that it was because the Academy couldn't get through the very first scene.

Thoughts?

Greedy for power, for honour, for love.

the movie isn't really that good, although it is indeed very stylish. I still think Isabelle Huppert will receive a nomination, though. Just like Marion Cotillard was nominated for 3 Days, 2 Nights, but the movie didn't make the shortlist.

Well considering the Oscars are not voted on by the media that stereotype is a bit irrelevant. However this movie has been nominated for many awards actually voted on by the media so out goes your theory entirely.

WTH are you talking about? :D

We are having a hell of a summer in Brazil this year. It took me 3 days to watch the movie, a bit a day. To me thats a symptom of a weak plot. A good movie would have stopped the heat to me. Great performance by Isabelle, maybe a nomination, but not for Best Movie, for sure.

reply

It's snubbed because the director of the film directed showgirls.

I personally loved Elle. It is disturbing, but I think it is a great film. However, as I haven't seen all of the films submitted for the Best Foreign Language Film, I can't say if it deserved a nomination because maybe there were better films. Still, I'd take Elle over Toni Erdmann every day.

Love your username, btw.

She (Mme. Huppert) BETTER WIN that Oscar. Emma Stone is favored (ugh; really).....
