Why is it called 'Unfriended'?

I know the film has connections with Facebook and other social media platforms, where the term 'unfriend' come from. But what does this term have to do with the plot?

'Cybernatural' was the original title during pre-production, and to be honest, it probably should stayed that title as it makes more sense storywise.

It's a more relatable term for the audience this movie was made for, it's a word they are familiar with making it more attractive for them.

It's referencing how they all used to be friends with Laura and "unfriended" her after the video incident.
