Because everybody would have died instantly, we seeing that she had the power to manifest in other people's homes and make them kill there self and I'm quite sure Turning off those garbage Macs would have just pissed her off more
shareWell for one, she threatened that if they hung up they would die. Also she seemed capable of immediate possession so they wouldn't have had time to leave the room, let alone the house.

Because it would have been a much shorter film, also plot gimmick.
Having said that, I think they should have done a sequence where Blaire tries to shut down or restart and can't, just like when she tries to quit the web browser.
