I cant think of when i last watched a movie and got so bored i switched it off before the end and this was the first in at least a decade and I have just watched the survivalist which was bad real bad but nothing compared to this pish!
The concept of using laptops i think is what has caused the problem - i spend too much time on my computer anyway so it was more like a busmans holiday to me and just didnt work - all that screaming and overacting and apparently this ordure cost over a million to produce - Crikey i could have made this on my gaming pc costing no more than a few friends, 10p and a bag of monkey nuts!
The story-line was sub-par and the acting was nothing special.
But on the contrary the style in which the movie was presented was very unique and executed rather well. I like how it was a movie you were basically watching through a first person view(Blair) on the screen of a laptop. This way you see her searching things and looking things up from her point of view only while still seeing what other people are others are doing via Skype call. I think this was the best attribute of the movie because it helps you get into the protagonists mind and feel what they are feeling much more than a traditional 3rd person way of filming. You still get to see her reactions as well through her Skype portrait, so it was really a 2 for 1 in that aspect.
Also I HIGHLY recommend watching this on a laptop screen, it adds to the reality factor x10, and is probably the reason why it was one of my favorite movies of the year.
If you are unable to detach yourself from reality and empathize with characters, then this movie is not for you. If you can though, and put yourself in the shoes of the protagonist (kind of like virtual reality) then this movie is really a lot of fun.
I can detach myself from reality entirely. I can still watch Blakes 7 and Dr Who and become immersed even though it is set in a rainy quarry in Newcastle on a dreary Sunday afternoon.
I guess because I am a computer programmer; to me its just a busmans holiday and very boring to sit through and as you say the story was pants but then you go on to say its your favourite film of the year - illogical captain or are you just trying to be incongruous?
I did however visit your profile and just completed watching Project Almanac which i found to be a rather interesting movie - shame the end let it down but we once again disagree on that one as I gave it 6/10 - I have yet to watch "Branded" but i see you have now "ignored" me even before you replied on here , so you also prove you arent up for debate - shame that!
Favourite movie of the year - oh dear i cannot fathom that one at all! The only website to give it a positive review is Rolling Stone - that I think says it all!
First off you are mixing me up with the other guy.
Second I never said it was my favorite I said ONE OF my favorites, which falls into maybe a top 10 for different reasons, and the reason this movie was up there was the way it was filmed.
Nope not confusing you with the other guy you have blocked me!
Still one of your faves! Wording/Syntax doesnt matter its semantics that matter. You said the story was crap but it wa "one" of your favoruite moveis of the year?
How old are you? Time to go back to school (if you arent already there) and learn grammar before you try to debate with the big boys!
This by far was the worst movie I have ever seen. I was funny enough watching it on one of those attempted "Netflix and chill" date with this guy. He said this movie was great. Needless to say, no second date. I was just sitting there wanting both the date and the movie to just be over
"Horror" films from this decade that I rated lower than Unfriended:
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies Area 51 Pod The Boy The Houses October Built V/H/S Viral Alien Abduction The Den Starry Eyes 13 Sins Exists Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones Contracted Carrie Devil's Pass The Purge Dark Skies Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters V/H/S/2 Would You Rather Paranormal Activity 4 House at the End of the Street Sinister ATM The Thing The Silent House Final Destination 5 Insidious Atrocious Paranormal Activity 2 Devil A Nightmare on Elm Street The Wolfman
Left Behind, After Earth, Bucky Larson, The Love Guru, etc. are truly bad films. Unfriended, though certainly flawed, is nowhere near as bad as those films.
I have not seen those two films. Not trying to change your mind, but I have since watched The Gallows and Ouija and would say they are a good 2-3 stars below Unfriended.
