Good director, terrible writer

Unbroken worked because she didn't wrote it and I was actually pleasantly surprised as to how well she did directing it, especially after the terrible In The Land. What worries me about this is that she wrote the damn thing. That's what's gonna sink it for sure.

Writers do flourish and change throughout their careers. It's been 7 years since she last wrote that screenplay, possibly longer.

Right now she only has two credits for her writing, In The Land Of Blood and Honey and the quasi-documentary, A Place In Time. Did you see either of them? If you didn't see both you don't have enough to make a definitive judgement. Right now I would say it is her directing that is mostly on shaky ground.

I disagree but I'm leaving myself open to be pleasantly surprised with By the Sea. I think she's grown as a director from In the Land to Unbroken and if the story is good, she rises to the challenge.

Personally, I thought In The Land Of Blood And Honey was well written and directed, though I'm not a fan of Angelina Jolie.
