Blu-ray Review: 'V/H/S: Viral'

The Flick: The "V/H/S" series has been rather ho-hum, so it’s a nice surprise that this third installment is such a satisfying treat. It’s hard to tell if it was the richness of the stories ('Dante the Great' about a magician who has the help of a possessed cloak feels very "Amazing Stories" like!) or the talent of the helmers ("Timecrimes" Director Nacho Vigalondo finally redeems himself with 'Parallel Monsters!'), but Viral is plain and simple a hoot. The third segment alone has enough crass, sass and bloody gash to keep the hungry "Creepshow" crowd feed and tamed. Third time’s a charm!

Best Feature: Since the 'Commentary' is a jumbled mess (everyone is in the damn room talking at once!), I would go with the 'Making of' doc for Dante the Great as filmmaker Gregg Bishop (the genius behind "Dance of the Dead!") fills it with so many tasty tales and filmmaking tips that it’s a must see for fans and budding directors!

Best Hidden Gem: Love the work by Bishop regular Justin Welborn as the funny and feisty magician Dante.

Worth the Moola: Filling its hard drive space with good things, "V/H/S: Viral" buries the bad memories of the former forgettable flicks.

Has this man actually seen the series? Perhaps he is writing from a parallel universe himself.

Also if a director "finally redeems himself", doesn't that imply his earlier work was not so hot. Yet this is the segment where the reviewer lauds the talent of the "helmers".

If the former flicks were so forgettable, why would we still have memories of them?

This is the wackiest thing I've seen since Gorgeous Vortex.
