Finally watched the movie. It’s just bad. I’m surprised with it’s good reviews
Trailer looked epic. But movie was just boring. I fast forwarded few times so bored I was.
Why on earth did they put Tom Hanks character in it and made him narrate? I was embarrassed for him. It was cringe worthy. He should have Razzie for it.
Austin Butler and make up artists did good job with his face. Visually he resembled Elvis. But he was trying so hard to mimic his look and voice that he couldn't act. He was like a lifeless mannequin. Like a Ken doll. I watched real Elvis in interviews. He seemed like a fun person. He always smiled. Austin Butler looked like a depressed and soulless creature. Elvis was not like that.
This movie had no soul. Like literally. It was just jumping around time not being able to tell a coherent story. We found our nothing about Elvis, his life, his character, his family. For some reason they constantly inserted real life events into movie like killing Kennedy and stuff. And made it look as if Elvis was super concerned about it. Im sure he was concerned as much and every American. Not more.
We ddint see fat Elvis. They didnt even try. We saw countless archive videos, we all know Elvis was overweight during his older era. Yet Austin was walking in his own skinny weight until the last moments. And then they cut to real Elvis and his last concert and it was very manipulative and cringe to look at. It was sad that they showed that to finish his movie. When he was at his worst, drugged up, drunk and on the verge of dying. He was pathetic.
This movie didnt have to be made. We have many Elvis documentaries. Let man rest in dignity.
