Zev's shooting of the Eva the dog and Kurlander 3's son brought chills for me as it showed right there that Zev had to be an "intensive" gun user in his past. He just does not remember he ever held a gun before. Yet the "procedural memory", the last type of memory to degrade in dementia is still intact. Indeed it is not by luck that he hits John K so expertly from the other side of the room.

So at that point I started smelling an other side to the story. It certainly did not seem that it could be an "error" in such an excellent and tight script.

I didn't see the twist coming either and I'm glad. I like Atom Egoyan movies, but his pace feels slower to me than other directors. And I'm including Terrence Mallick!

Anyway it was satisfying to have the surprise and then to reflect upon the Kurlander 3 shootings. I came to the same conclusion -- that an amateur would've done some wild shooting all over the place and hit nothing. So it was "muscle memory" that made his aim true.

The whole movie I was thinking more about what it's like to be forgetful and to have to rely on others' kindness and honesty. I was distrustful of Max from the get go, but didn't want to over analyze it. Instead I liked how Zev throughout the movie encountered so many people who were polite and helpful. The kid on the train, his dad, the hotel concierges willing to walk him to his room, the cab driver, etc. That part of the movie will stay with me longer than anything else.

That part stuck with me some too...my buddy recommended this show to me and I was just telling him what an asshole I am. I would NOT have the patience to deal with that kind of thing, as horrible as that might sound.
After the umpteenth time he stumbled out of his room hollering for his wife, I'd have been like, "She's DEAD, V, DEAD! Jesus H CHRIST how many times do we have to go over this??"

You reap what you sow. I hope no one like you works in the "facility" you end up in when you're unable to take care of yourself.
