I think some of us were hoping that Colbert would be different from the others.
I know I was.
Colbert's going on and on about kissing Mirren, then kissing Sally Field . . .
and now tonight we get a love duet with Anna Kendrick . . .

Dying would have been preferable to this, imo. At least when a great performer passes, the memory lives on. This craps on the memory of the Colbert Report. This gives you a glimpse behind the curtain to reveal an actor, who, for years, was unfulfilled with not only winning awards, but with mending a broken political system as well- unfulfilled with making the world a better place. This was an actor suffering under the weight of all that greatness, yearning for mediocrity, who, unfortunately, got his wish to fade into obsolescence and obscurity.
This is way sadder than death. Dead heroes are still heroes. This is someone you were certain was great, who was actually never great at all, just surrounded by great people, and who was never really happy with the brilliance they were channeling through him. share
So when I do fall head over heels in love with a celebrity, it's kind of a big deal. And there's no celebrity, past or present, that I cherished as much as I cherished you.
Those touching words with which you addressed Mr. Colbert, the tender thoughts that you so kindly shared with the world, shall forever echo on the internet in their torment. The pain still lingers, as after six months time, the depth of your agony (and your nightly viewership) has clearly not diminished. Yes, I still mourn, and I still watch. And you still stalk. For the record, just tonight, I told my grandmother "Grandma, Colbert isn't as funny as he used to be- and getting less funny by the minute. If you want me to continue to DVR it, I will, but, if you reach a point where you want to watch something else, just let me know and I'll find something else for us to watch together."
