Buscemi
The interview with Buscemi sort of highlights a weakness that weighs Colbert's show down and stops it from soaring.
Why oh why did Colbert emphasize the silly shallow little things around Buscemi... when he could have built the segment around his great talent and more scintillating conversation?
He spent 5 minutes talking about the pronunciation of Buscemi's name, then made a big deal about his screen deaths. I can't see that there's any real comedy talk show hay to be made over dimwitted obsession with the woodchipper scene in Fargo. Ironically, it only serves to validate philistines who wouldn't recognize a great flick any better than a dog.
The show has had more than a few flashes of splendidly toned brilliance; which is why it hurts to see throwaway rubbish like this.
