Cut the musical/theater crap colbert...
It's effing annoying. Leave the theater/singing to the professionals.
shareIt's effing annoying. Leave the theater/singing to the professionals.
shareYou and like two or three other people find it annoying enough to complain about. Not surprisingly, you and the two or three other posters are people who just watch the show to come to IMDB to complain about the show. Just quit watching, problem solved. The rest of us are clearly enjoying the program.
shareYou must be a pseudo-intellectual theater snob. Rachel Bloom was wonderful. Lin-Manuel Miranda
is wonderful. The professional singers and composers who come to the show are wonderful. But Stephen Colbert is not. He sucks at it and he keeps interrupting and forcing it on the audience instead of letting the professionals showcase their talent. It's one thing to do it once in a while or once in a week. But the entire show is about his amateur theater/musical skills. One or two people? The lack of activity in this forum is indication of people are being excited about his show negative or positive. Successful shows like Mad Men had plenty of activity whether it is criticism or appreciation. It's a sign of people being emotionally invested in a show and liking it. This is some obscure complaint of one or two people? Have a look at this http://www.vox.com/2016/3/30/11330956/colbert-rachel-bloom-musical. I'm not against musicals or theater but I don't want Stephen Colbert overshadowing the actual performers with his crappy singing/theater skills resembling infamous William Hung of American Idol.
The lack of activity in this forum ...FWIW, the Fallon board is even less active. (take a look):. /title/tt3444938/board
Because I think you do nothing but hate watch the show and come here and whine after means I must be a pseudo-intellectual theater snob? LOL! Ok...no. I've never even been in a high school play.
And using a Vox blog article to back up your point? Double LOL! Sorry my numbers were off, it's up to three or four now.
The entire show is about theater and singing? Exaggerate much?
Late night shows don't get a lot of activity on these boards to begin with, so comparing a late night talk show to Mad Men is ridiculous. Might as well compare Jimmy Fallon to Game of Thrones. DERP.
Colbert was my favorite. And I'm objective and being honest about his show instead of being a fan boy. You spend your time on Teen Mom forum and you criticize The Daily Show. But we are not allowed to criticize the Colbert train wreck of a show. You have no credibility to comment on this and not to be taken seriously.
shareHahaha...and you spend your time being a stalker apparently. So what if I watch Teen Mom as a guilty pleasure and then make fun of the people who take it seriously? And so what if I don't think Trevor Noah is doing a good job? (if you stalked me enough to read my comments, you'd realize I really like his stand up, but don't think he's a good fit for the show...I actually watched for months and defended him for a while.) None of those things change the fact that you're simply watching to complain now (and grossly exaggerating those complaints).
You're allowed to criticize Colbert of course, but you want to know the difference between you and me? I didn't sit around and do nothing but moan about The Daily Show... once I stopped enjoying it, I quit watching and didn't whine every week like the show owed ME something.
I agree. Zak made the same complaint about Colbert doing singing and dancing on two other threads, but that wasn't enough and he felt compelled to create another thread to complain some more.
There are several posters who come across as hate-watchers who post nothing but over-the-top negative stuff. I watch about half the shows and generally enjoy it, but I skip this forum most of the time because of all the negativity. People are of course allowed to have their opinion, but man, why watch if you really dislike it that much? Life's too short, and there's plenty of other good stuff to enjoy.
Yeah. That's not enough for me. Why does it burn your behind? I was a fan but to be honest I have to accept he sucks in this show. Don't be a fan boy! Ratings speak.
shareEveryone who dares to disagree with your repetitious whining is a 'fan boy.' Check.
Sure, whatever you say. And will say again tomorrow.

I'm not a "fan boy," I just happen to like him and the show. I enjoyed the episodes I watched this week with Eric Stonestreet and Jason Jones (March 30) and Sarah Paulson and Tatiana Maslany (March 31).
The music and dance performance on March 31 was outstanding. The tap dancer was excellent, and the street dancing guy was mesmerizing, all backed by great music. It was a real treat.
I don't see all the episodes, and not every show is as good as those, but there's plenty for me to like. I don't know why you seem incapable of accepting that some people like the show without derisively calling them "fan boys."
Ok. Don't comment on this topic if you don't see every show. If you see regularly then you will see the pattern of his annoying behavior.
shareOh really? I'm not allowed to have an opinion unless I watch every single episode? That right there demonstrates your problem -- you think your opinion is the only one that matters, and anyone with a differing opinion doesn't count.
shareYou are allowed to vomit wherever you want. I'm not holding your hands from typing. Your argument has no credibility when you don't watch the show regularly to understand what I'm talking about. Sure you can keep vomiting here. If you like the show why do you care to argue here. I care because I was a big fan of Colbert and hard to see his show go this way. GOT IT? I don't think so.
shareHere is a tip. GO back and watch the last two months of episodes and then come back to reply to my post.
shareAs I pointed out in my first post on this thread, you posted this same thing on multiple threads. Did you not read those other threads? I responded to your "musical/theater crap" objection here:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3697842/board/thread/255468556?d=255489259#255489259
So, you see, I responded to your first post on the topic. Just because you posted the same thing on two other threads doesn't mean I have to respond to that argument on every thread. My comments on this thread are about you essentially spamming the board with the same post and your penchant for ridiculing anyone for liking Colbert on TLS.
I'll post any number of times I want. You don't have to read it. You don't own this website. GTFOH
shareYes, you can flood the board with the same comments on multiple threads or multiple times on the same thread. But just because you and a couple of like-minded people flood the board with your negative posts doesn't mean yours is the only opinion.
These forums are supposed to be for a community of people. Not just you, or me, or any one person. But with all your negativity and childish need to post the same crap over and over, you can have it. This board is no longer doing anything to enhance my enjoyment of the show.
OK. GTFO here then and join some fan boy/girl website.
shareYes. It's too bad that dumbos like you don't get what I'm saying in one message/thread. If dumbos like you don't post here I could just convey my message in one posting.

His show sucks and he's annoying. Just admit it fanboy
shareDon't you have to go and monitor/police the multiple Batiste bashing threads? And other threads talking about the same topics? Get a life dumbo!
sharesinging Patrick Bateman was kindof .. bizarre
to say the least
I have to admit that there was a time when I thought that Colbert was a good singer. He didn't sing all that much on the Report, but, at the same time, I wasn't paying much attention. I was just caught up in the Colbert-can-do-anything mindset, ascribing attributes to the actor which, as I've now figured out, were only present in the character.
Now that the rose tinted glasses have been removed, I can now see that, vocally, he's just not as proficient as he thinks he is. He can carry a tune, and, in small doses, singing particular songs, he can be palatable- sometimes actually charming, but, much like karaoke with your co-workers, heartfelt yet merely passable crooning can get especially old quickly.
The main problem isn't his lack of skills, it's his lack of awareness of his lack of skills. As far as he's concerned, he sang on Broadway in a Sondheim production, which gives him carte blanche to sing whenever, where ever. If he was more aware of his shortcomings, he could portion it a bit, and make it far more appealing, but, unfortunately, like many areas of the show, the man loves drinking his kool aid.
When you're pathologically cheerful and you surround yourself with equally cheerful people, nobody's telling you "Hey, don't do that." I'd like to think that the ratings might be a bit of a wake up call, but, he seems to be in so much of a bubble, I'm not sure.
Spot on.
