Colbert has a pronounced feminine energy

I don't think Colbert is a p***y, but he definitely has a strong feminine energy. Last night's monologue was an example in which it turned into a musical number from Fiddler on the Roof. I can't imagine a more traditional male talk show host like Johnny Carson or Jay Leno breaking into a musical number during the monologue.

reply

Does it offend your macho sensibilities when any man sings? Or would you be OK if only it were something from Whitesnake or AC/DC?
No, Jay or Johnny would probably not have done it, but have you ever watched Fallon or Corden? Today's hosts are all p***ys, time to just stick to the UFC channel and watch the human cockfights. No fear of being exposed to "feminie energy" there--even the girls have masculine energy!

I came here to post about the actors "country backside". How many times has that guy been a guesst?, I keep hearing about the country backside every time I tune in. Was that the same guy as before? I don't really want to know.

reply

Are you talking about Tom Hiddleston and his "English Countryside?" (#Hiddlesbum) He's been on twice. And he has a fantastic bum.

reply

And he complements the sexiness of male guests frequently. He also kisses male guests in the mouth. Go figure! He uses the show to cure his hangover of his failed musical/theater career.

reply

First of all who the hell cares?

Secondly Stephen's father died when he was very young and as a result he was raised largely by his mother and older sisters. So he probably is more in touch with his femine side than Johnny or Jay who grew up in two parents.

Third modern hosts do stuff all the time that Johnny and Jay would not have done not because they are pussy's but because it's a new era. Just like Johnny and Jay did routines that hosts from previous eras never did and fifty years from now hosts will do routines that Stephen and Jimmy never would have done.

Next time I'll just die on the river so Sam can see a waterfall.

Talk about being a fan boy and being an apologist for a TV host. I was an avid fan of Stephen Colbert in his previous show and I was hoping he will get better in the new show. But to be objective and not being a fan boy blind follower, I have to admit what he has become. You took it upon yourself to apologize for his actions like you know him very well intimately. His therapist?

reply

Being raised by his mother and older sisters would explain his feminine energy, but I think it goes beyond that. Twenty or thirty years ago I don't think a man with that quality would be accepted on TV as a late night talk show host. A lot of men just can't "get away" with showing much of a feminine side without consequences. I'm about Colbert's age; if I had developed a feminine side like Colbert my father would probably have brutalized me emotionally if not physically, not to mention the boys in my rather traditional community. On the other hand, not being able to develop a normal feminine side may have stunted me emotionally, who knows?

reply

Okay, well that's all our time for today. We'll pick up here next time. I think we're making some real progress.

Nobody cares about you or your dumb self analysis. Colbert is annoying and his show is failing because he makes it all about himself. What difference does it make who raised him?

reply

Bravo! And this "ColinInLa" self-appointed expert on Colbert claims other people are condescending and cries when others mock him.

reply

Don't let condescending fanboys distract you from stating the facts of what is happening to the show and it's official and in the news.

James Corden does it all the time and he is way more annoying about it.

And who cares about Jay Leno? I never watched that guy.

reply

Lol I think most people assume that James Corden is just a straight up flamboyant homosexual. Not even meant insultingly.

reply

What the hell are you talking about? First off, this is a board for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert .... not Corden's board. Secondly, your remark about Corden's sexuality is offensive, immature and ignorant. I was offended and I'm not gay. I'm sure, however, that people from the LGBT community would also be offended.

reply

You realize he is in a hetero marriage? I've only watched a few carpool karaoke videos and he mentions his wife often.

First off, Colbert is a man of many talents, which include the ability to sing. Your comments about "strong feminine energy" sound like something out of the 1950's ....

Seems like you are just watching the wrong show. If you want traditional, switch over to The Tonight Show, which has always been traditional. Colbert took over the reigns of David Letterman, who himself never did a 'traditional' show. That's why there aren't too many folks who are fans of both "Late Night ...." and "The Tonight Show." The Tonight Show is more conservative and traditional, while "Late Night" has always been for the less traditional, more wacky, edgy, parody, etc. ~

In essence, David Letterman always had a younger, hipper audience, while Carson cornered the conservative market. In other words, Stephen is following in the footsteps of David Letterman, with all the wackiness, silliness and parody to boot ......
