Rylance was the same in every scene

Why did he win an Oscar?

reply

He was the same in every scene because that's how Spielberg wanted him, and it paid off.

Thank you for telling me something I already know.
Now step aside and let some actual film commentators relay their expertise.

What makes you more of an expert in acting than the members of the Academy?

I find Oscar Bait infinitely more interesting than ticket bait

reply

because I know people in Hollywood and I'm from NY so...

reply

Then why don't you ask your Hollywood friends why did he win?

reply

Yea I dont get it. I thought Tom Hardy should have won before I saw this movie and now Im convinced Tom should have won

reply

I remember a little story about Spencer Tracey. He was in a scene with a younger actor and he asked how he was intending to play the scene. I thought I'd underplay it, was the answer. No you won't Kid, cuz that's how I'm gonna do it, was Spencer's reply.
I guess in films the "less is more" aproach is what actors aspire to and look for when judging thier peers.
But apart from that, I thought Rylance nailed every scene he was in and was a worthy counterweight to Hank's everyman charisma. Though I have to admit I've yet to see the Mad Max remake.
