The location of Rex's house

Does anybody know the exact location of Rex's house, (where it was filmed)?

This is from an old article from IF.com.au dated 05/05/2014.

The stunning central Australian outback is also an important character in the film. ‘Last Cab to Darwin’ will shoot in Broken Hill for just over two weeks and then head to South Australia to shoot in Marree, William Creek, Oodnadatta and Marla before heading to Alice Springs, Barrow Creek, Tennant Creek, Daly Waters and Katherine. The seven-week shoot will conclude in Darwin in late June.

A quick search on Google Maps indicates the end of Carbon St in Broken Hill. Sure looks like it in Street View.

Thanks ajohnabell, well done sir! I'm very impressed by that, thank you. Coincidentally (which is a little spooky)a work colleague just bought the DVD this morning & handed it to me this afternoon. (He is a Scotsman & used to work in Mt Isa, before moving here to NZ) so the movie resonated with him as well. In 1979 I hitchhiked around Oz (literally almost everywhere) & for my 70th birthday intend to do that trip again, but this time intend to use a 4X4. It'll be in 2028 (hopefully I'll still be alive & able bodied)! I well remember Broken Hill. Thanks once again.

I remembered Rex sitting on his front verandah looking at a mine overspill mound, and that he was at the end of the street, so I figured there can't be too many places in Broken hill that fit that description. Only took 10 minutes once I set to it. :)

It's not Carbon St. It's definitely 63 Gaffney St, Broken Hill and Polly lived in 66. Google Maps shows it as no 65 but it's 63.

Yes you are right. Finding a location that had the mine over-spill in the back ground was tricky, and Carbon St fit the bill, but Gaffney is the right one.

I hunted down the houses.

Wasn't exactly sure when I got to them because they modified them for the shoot and they looked a bit different, but I spoke to the neighbours who confirmed No 63 & 66 Gaffney Street. Curiously they hadn't bothered to see the movie!

Hope they took my recommendation and at least rented it, but think it might not be to their taste.

Loved Broken Hill, an amazing town. Spent over a week exploring both the town and the stunning landscape around. Keep in mind that what you are seeing is the apocalypse after the miners almost wiped the land clean of trees for a 100km radius. Must have been even more beautiful in the time before the white man came.

Now you can't even grow your own veggies because of all the lead in the soil. Sad. Very much an ageing town and like many country towns suffers terribly with health problems, mostly due to bad diet and obesity. Sort of key to the movie.
