What does Jay's Phone Call Mean?

Jay looks like a care free hippie and part time junkie on the surface, but he is surprisingly astute to things happening around him.

I still wonder though, why does the card trigger his curiosity? It doesn't look overtly suspicious to me. And what does the phone call mean to him?

Any thoughts?

Jay probably suspects Nate is gay. The phone call was just him being curious. I don't believe Jay cares that Nate is gay. He knows that the MMA community may not except a gay fighter. So it hurts him to think his brother will receive hate.
