Has Christina contributed anything positive in her boys' lives?

I can't even say she's been a neutral part of their lives like other dead beat parents. Every since she came back around, it's a constant trauma they have to deal with. Now Jay is pushed out of his own house and she's bringing in junkies to rob, and potentially harm, her other son. She's just awful.

In fairness that situation was mostly the idiot therapist fault.

reply

No means no. But she was using and manipulating him with sex.

♫ I didn't mean to turn you on ♫

reply

Right. She doesn't deserve to be raped but she preyed on him, manipulating him for special treatment and discarded him. He's a psycho, she's a parasite.

No one deserves to be raped - period. The counselor is deplorable, but her manipulating him would and should never be cause for his actions. The one good thing she did was keeping Jay from killing him because that would have royally ruined his life.

Christina is a mess, but blaming her solely for Jay's behavior is kind of giving her more credit than she deserves. Nate seems to have adjusted okay for the most part considering he and Jay share the same mom.

That being said, Christina is a bad influence like Alicia's sister. They both should be gone.

Mind you, I've missed the last two most recent episodes so maybe that idea comes to fruition!

Sure, in a perfect world. Just like inviting in a junkie shouldn't result in getting tied up and robbed and yet that happened as well due to her.

I wouldn't exactly call it credit and of course Jay is an adult and responsible for his choices but she IS responsible for his damage. Alvey likely is as well though we don't have as much backstory on his contribution.

Alvey was a deadbeat dad for Jay and he left her with Christina a lot. WHich is prolly why he is so *beep* up. He prolly tried a bit with Nate, but I feel like Nate was really raised by Jay and Lisa (who was Ryan's gf then) while Alvey was busy concentrating on Ryan.

reply

I was wondering if I'd missed their backstories. I assumed Christina took off pretty early on, no? Alvey seems like a shit dad that's always been a shit dad. Jay has mentioned Lisa was his only good "parent," or something like that, so I was wondering how long she's been in his life. They can't be that much different in age.

Personally, I think Alvey not being around much was what prolly contributed to Christina's addiction and wh0r!ng... not saying, Alvey had is fully to blame, but it must have contributed in some ways.

I think Lisa was around a lot... especially, since both Jay and Nate are so close to her. Maybe even Alvey saw her a surrogate mother to his kids, which probably is why he got together with her after Ryan went to prison, in spite of himself being uncomfortable of their age/class difference (he repeatedly talks about Roxanne is the right/appropriate age for him). I think he meant it in that restaurant that he/gym can't function without Lisa, even though he took money from her dad to leave her.

I think Alvey is the kind of man who thinks that giving his sperm means his job is done, and raising etc is a woman's job. I have no doubt, if this baby had been born, he would've checked out of here as well... I mean, he himself admitted as much during one of "me-vacations."

reply

Good insights! I agree that Alvey was a can't be bothered dad and had no interest in Lisa's baby. I think she knew that too and that's why she didn't want to raise it with him.

Nate asked the same question earlier in the season. She is nothing but trouble!

reply

Alvey even told Jay last season "she can't be helped, son."

reply

She needs to get killed off

I liked her character in the first season cause it showed that despite how screwed up people thought he was, Jay had a purpose that he refused to fail with. Her character has since really fell into the shadows though the last season. I feel like Mac is a more important character sometimes than her.
