euahhil, Lisa
[stankface]
shareExactly. I always wonder if something on the set smells bad for her to constantly make that disgusting sour face.
I seriously can't stand that character and hate that she came back.
She only came back to further ruin Alvey's life because she was too stupid to protect her body from being impregnated by a man she didn't want anymore. And interfered enough in his current relationship so that woman wouldn't want him either.
Then she demands partnership in HIS gym and tears it down by encouraging his winning female fighter to leave. And hooks up with his champion fighter -- who she probably wanted all along. Rub that in his face.
Now what kind of gym does she think she can have without Alvey?
I really hate Lisa. The baby should've lived and she should've died.
being a little dramatic are we? Alvey isn't a saint either. Just look at how he has treated Jay pretty much all the time. He also didn't even care about hat baby.
shareξ It's not about Alvey's transgressions.
Lisa knew she didn't want him anymore over a year ago. When you're not happy in a relationship, MOVE ON. There are millions of other people out there who may be more suitable. Why blame him for her unhappiness? They weren't married. And why come back and make him miserable because she is? She's an adult. Cultured. Educated. Wealthy. Talented. Pretty [if she relaxes the stankface]. She's responsible for herself. And it isn't as if she didn't know the man she was involved with.
And now it seems she's forgotten why she left Ryan the first time too.
What a surprise?!?!? A show full of male a**holes and the most hated character is the female lead.
Let me guess, your second least favorite character is Christina.
Lisa is the absolute best. She is the BOSS!
She doesn't take anyone's sh*t and puts everyone, that needs to be, in place.
When Ryan was being a diva she told him to "shut the F up and get in the car."
She's the only one that believes in Jay, got him fights, fought to get him more money. Supports him all the way.
Put both Alvey and Alicia is their place - not to mention finding her.
She calls Alvey out for his self centred a-hole tendencies.
She even told him not to invest with Chabas because she's got a killer BS detector - same with those other "investors".
She was right on the money about the baby. His self indulgent drunk a** goes to a hotel to drink while she's always picking up the pieces.
She did end it with Alvey but got pregnant, it happens.
But she handled it, like she handles everything else - alone and like a boss - calling out all the BS along the way.
lol
I don't have a "second least favorite." I hate Lisa and Christina equally. ξ
I get what you're saying but there's just something about her character that a lot of ppl don't like. I dislike Ryan equally as well. I like jay. Pretty much the only reason I watch the show. All great actors/actresses tho
shareI think I was right on about what people dislike about HER...that she's a HER.
It's not uncommon.
Personally, though, I don't need to like any characters to like a show.
I need characters to be interesting and complex. All these characters are and that's what makes the show good.
I am a woman and hate Lisa. She is self-centered, immature, spoiled and manipulative with her stupid long nails.
I don't know why people make Alvey to be some bad guy. He has a lot of heart, is good at his job, is there for people and has integrity. So he didn't want Jay in the gym after he had wasted Alvey's time and was irresponsible about it, I don't know anyone who would want Alvey to be a door mat in that situation, what would it teach jay? As it stands Jay got very serious about training because limitations were put on him due to his past behavior, that's fathering 101.
It's not a purely male thing to hate female characters.
Across the board, women characters, especially when they exhibit non-traditional female behavior, are hated and judged more aggressively than male characters - even ones that exhibit the same characteristics.
As per Alvey, it's not that he's a bad guy, it's that he's a selfish self centered a**hole.
You want a list of his transgressions? Here are some off the top of my head:
- Cheats on Lisa
- Is drunk 99% of the time he's not coaching
- Doesn't know anything or show any interest in his children outside of the ring
- Doesn't tell/consult his life partner (for lack of a better word) about a large sum of money he's "investing" - even though she made remarks that she's opposed. It's a thin argument that it's his money since they live together and she also bank rolls the gym
- Is supposed to protect said partner financially but first opportunity to and he's adamantly against - though happily takes her money when the gym needs it (about $40k or so)
- Does not support partner through pregnancy
- Talks a lot about family but is never there for family - abandoning Lisa in San Fran, letting Jay stew in gf's death, knows d*ck all about Nate,
- Abandons fighters during key weight loss to? Childishly deal with issues by getting blind drunk in hotel room - further abandoning "family" and "partner" - repeated disappearance at critical times
I'm sure there are a bunch of other things but these are the ones i thought of as i was writing this.
But he's a good coach when he shows up :)
You've accused a few of us of hating the character Lisa because she's a woman. Let's try this: I accuse of you reading what you only want to see instead of what's there. I wrote:

I love Lisa, so what she's a little confused about how she feels about Alvey, he's a confusing guy to love. She's a strong woman, and I appreciate that. I think the writing of this show is realistic and super ballsey.
