Jay Whining About Nothing Changing After Title Win

I love the show and I love Jay, but this whole bit annoyed me. He bitches about nothing changing after winning the title, but he never even gave it a chance. He went straight from the fight to motel junkie. He holed up in a room and did nothing but bang his girl and get high. He didn't do sh!t. I get the theme the show was going for here and it would have been great if they hadn't failed on the execution. It was just way too forced. They needed to show Jay actually trying in order for the "nothing changes at the top" theme to work. Instead, they just made Jay seem like a little bitch.

"There are too many of them. Can't kill the world."

Maybe he was referring to his featherweight title win, not his lightweight title against Ryan. Either way I don't think Jay had any room to complain. I love the guy, but Alvey is right not to trust him. He's all over the place and his behavior after beating Ryan proved he doesn't have the heart to be a fighter. It takes a lot more than being pissed at the world to be a champion in the Octagon.

I took it as Jay had already 'proved' himself to Alvey in his eyes. He dropped classes, won the title like Alvey wanted, trained hard enough to beat Ryan in another class. I think Jay thought he had finally earned the respect from Alvey. When Alvey basically told Jay that Ryan would always come first at Navy Street, Jay realized that everything he did for Alvey's respect was a waste.
