Considering the huge number of reboots and late sequels, it may very well still happen. Maybe as a sequel, maybe as a remake.

Yeah I’ve been hearing about this for a decade. I want to see it but I’m hesitant as I just don’t see them
Making a worthwhile sequel especially this late after the original
