Not sure why this flopped at box office, surprisingly very good!

The last few films Mel has done were not his best work but this film has a very different vibe to those. There were moments in this film that are terrifying, that'll make you tear up, in short, although it's primarily an action flick, it's got a lot of heart and a whole sh!t-ton of fantastic actors and character actors in it. It's slightly generic plot-wise, but it still has heart to it and something to say hidden amidst the cliched plot-beats. I rated it an 8, so give it a shot! Mel gave those b@stards several! 

Lionsgate did not give this much of a chance. Very limited release with VOD plans.

They knew it would bomb, so they didn't want to spend any $$$ on advertising.

Doesn't matter how good the film is (or isn't). The star is tainted.

It was good. It did have a small release like many films do.

This has nothing to do with Mel. Hacksaw Ridge has a wide release and he is behind that.

No nudity and an original plot. Of course it would not make it.

Most likely looking at future cult status

I was looking forward to seeing this, but it only lasted a week at any cinema near where I live.

It seems to have gotten a reasonable amount of advertising and positive word-of-mouth; perhaps Mel hasn't won the audiences back over yet.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.
