Mel was wasted in this - so disappointing

So disappointed in this movie. It was bad. The script was bad. The lead actress was bad. And on a technical level, the sound recording and ADR were bad, and I saw a cut in the middle of a take once! Mel Gibson's (and William Macy's) talents were wasted here.

I actually thought this was Mel's best performance since Braveheart, and given the number of genuinely great performances (Ransom, Payback, The Patriot, Edge of Darkness, The Beaver, and Get the Gringo) he's given in between these two films, that is saying a lot. I thought he made Link into a fully three dimensional character who we rooted and cared for, personality flaws and all. The scene where he convinced his daughter that she wasn't truly suicidal and had much to live for was an amazing piece of acting, almost as if though Mel was speaking from personal experience.

I think Mel did an awesome job as Link, one of his best and that's saying alot considering all the great rolls in great movies Mel's done and stared in.
I've missed Mel on the silver screen!
